Col De Dama Blanca Negra Plant
We purchased my Coll de Dama Blanca-Negra to satisfy the curiosity of its fame, a tree that can produce fruit of two different tones or colorations. After years with this variety, I can state that indeed it produces fruits with two different tones but not necessarily a fig that is all green and a fig that is purely purple. In reality, the green fruit has a yellow and light purple blush, while the dark fruit is a bit green/yellow with some deep purple areas. The color of the figs is really beautiful, they are firm to the touch even when ripe. Picking these figs take some skills, indicators include a soft neck, a stem that has started to dry, and cracking of the fruit which occurs on the hottest of days. The texture of this fig is amazing, the pulp has the consistency of dry fruit or a piece of candied fruit, UNBELIEVABLE! The taste is figgy with complex berry tones. Some figs have a slight caramel aftertaste, and they can also drip honey or nectar. The tree is very productive once stablished and it has a very compact form with low vigor growth. Excellent cultivar for beginner gardeners and collectors.
