Da Ponte is a light green fig (at times yellow) with dark amber to light red interior depending on when it ripens. The fig originates from Portugal. The tree is a vigorous grower and very productive. This variety produces leaves with spade shape and at times three lobes. The figs are very sweet with figgy flavor and some berry hints. The ripening period starts in mid-August and can extend to late September. The harvest is short with most figs ripening within weeks. I recommend this fig for its large production of high-quality figs with very sweet flavor.
