LSU purple is a very distinctive fig for its color and taste. The tree has good vigor and is very productive, setting many figs across all branches. The name describes its color perfectly, rich purple tone hiding a light amber interior that is sweet is syrupy. The taste is very delicate, sweet with some brown sugar (maybe complex like maple?). Figs vary in size small to large. The ripening period is mid-season starting early August and extending to the end of October. The quality is very good even when after sudden showers or rapid changes in weather. The tree is also very low maintenance, doing well in dry and wet seasons with minimal care.
