Ponte Tresa is an excellent variety, one that keeps getting better with each passing year. The tree originates from the town of Ponte Tresa near the Swiss-Italian border. The figs ripen late on the season. The taste was sweet with rich berry tones similar to black raspberries, which was surprising. The texture of the pulp is firm but moist. The tree grows with average vigor and the foliage is very ornamental. I think this variety is worth keeping and definitely having in a region with a prolong growing season.
